Can Didi bring him to a proposal, or will he decide he’s looking for more than mere beauty? The story has a somewhat rocky start for an otherwise frivolous Regency, for the opening is Lord Malvern rushing to the bedside of his dying sister, who tells him just who has brought her to this pass - unrequited love for one Lee Farrish. And amongst the hordes of admirers drawn to Didi, comes one of London’s most eligible bachelors, the Marquess of Malvern. Now they’ve all come to London for the season to find husbands for three of the girls, incomparable beauty Didi, and identical twins Cassie and Arie. Book the four loves5/31/2023 ![]() Thus, loves that are “like” God can encourage “nearness” to God as well, but they can also hinder it.īefore discussing “higher” loves, Lewis begins with likings, or pleasures. When that happens, those loves become “demonic,” self-destructive, and damaging to others. This distinction is important because human Gift-loves (those that already resemble God) can come to be mistaken for divine love. “Nearness” to God, on the other hand, is a spiritual quality that a person must actively seek. “Likeness” to God is something given, by virtue of the fact that human beings are God’s creatures. Lewis expands on the ideas of likeness and nearness to God-they aren’t the same thing. For one thing, human beings never lose their need for God, and this is the way God intends it to be. ![]() However, he soon realized that things are more complicated. Based on this distinction, Lewis planned to praise Gift-love and criticize Need-love. Therefore, he divided natural human loves into two types- Gift-love (which is God-like, because God is self-giving) and Need-love (which is unlike God, because God lacks nothing). ![]() When Lewis first set out to write about love, his thesis was “God is love” (as St. ![]() Love, Like Water by Rowan Speedwell5/31/2023 ![]() ![]() Via’s Promises and/or Nothing Special series (Amazon only) ![]() These books can get pretty rough and violent, and also very erotic, so trigger warnings all ’round. You should read these in order, so start with Hell & High Water. If you like Max, you’ll love Dex, who brings ridiculous snark to a whole new level. On a completely different vein, the THIRDS series features genetically altered shifter humans (mostly cats) and their various romances and partners in an elite military task force in a quasi post-plague world. If it’s the Max/Bryan dynamic you’re after, then try A Beginner’s Guide to Wooing Your Mate. I started with (and loved) Treasure for Treasure, and I am so NOT a dragon shifter person. You’ll probably end up reading them all anyway. You do not have to read this series in order at all, just pick and choose whichever blurb interests you. ![]() Beautifully written with gentle HEAs, understated but lovely sex scenes. These books are so sweet and poignant, with prevailing themes of loneliness and cultural (usually human-to-fae) misunderstandings. (Cooper is slowly rolling out new and BETTER covers.) Please please please just ignore the horrible cover art. ![]() Ready? Love The San Andreas Shifters? Try… 1. In the interim, I’ve put together this list of authors I absolutely love who write m/m fantasy, urban fantasy, and paranormal romance. The second book, The Omega Objection is out now, with more to follow. If you have, as always, I’d adore a review. I’m hoping by now you’ve had a chance to read my latest book, The Sumage Solution. ![]() |
